Swansea Almoners raise over £6,000 for local charities

The Swansea Almoners held a charity ball on Saturday 23rd July 2022 at the Masonic Hall, Swansea, with the proceeds of the evening going to various local Swansea charities desperate for support of their aims and objective.

The event was organised by W.Bro Tyrone Rees, W.Bro Mark Clement, secretary of the Swansea Almoners, W.Bro Phil Osborne and treasurer W.Bro Russell Wilkinson. It comprised of a 5-course gala dinner, raffle, auction and various crowd participation games. The evening continued with a cabaret by the talented vocalist Amy Lee, and the jewel of the evening were the songs of West End musicals, delivered by the CATS Class Act Theatre Group of young children. CATS is a local school of talent, run by W.Bro Kevin Mitchell’s son, Gareth, a star of stage himself; that is Gareth not Kevin.

The event was superbly supported by many South Wales Freemasons, friends and family with over a 130 attending who gave freely to the cause of charity.

There was also an excellent show of support from a top table consisting of our Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro D Gerald Rowbottom, the Provincial Grand Secretary, W.Bro Ben Gait, the Provincial Grand Almoner W.Bro Philip Bevan, the Chairman of Swansea Almoners W.Bro John Theo Davies and the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies W.Bro Timothy Clark, along with their wives and partners.

The event was successful in raising over £6,000 for charitable purposes. This money will soon be donated to a number of local Swansea charities, whatever those organisations support. The donations will assist in delivering that essential help to those in need.

Swansea Freemasons can be proud of their support to charitable organisations. As mentioned, there are many and varied organisations and providing that they are simply a registered charity, the Swansea Almoners will openly consider applications for donations.

An example of this is that in Swansea alone, during the last 2 years and during the Pandemic, fourteen different organisations benefitted from donations given by Swansea Freemasons. With the funds raised as a result of the event on the 23rd, many more will benefit from donations in the very near future.

The Swansea Almoners offer their sincere thanks to each and every one who attended and supported the event, including those who couldn’t make the evening due to other commitments but freely donated gifts, auction items and in many cases money. Because of their generosity, donations given to deserving causes will allow the charities to continue to deliver the relevant support and services to those who are less fortunate than many.
