Singleton Lodge at Swansea University Fresher’s Fayer

At the end of September 2018, at the Swansea University Fresher’s Fayre, our Past Master and University Scheme Liaison Officer WBro Terry Webber shared a stand with Lodge of Adherence for Order of Women’s Freemasons, to promote and speak to students about Freemasonry.

The Universities Scheme was established by the United Grand Lodge of England in 2005 to build on the success of the two oldest Universities based lodges Apollo University Lodge, Oxford and Issac Newton Lodge, Cambridge. The scheme allows undergraduates, postgraduates, lecturers and other university staff come together in the shared interest in Freemasonry in one of 55 scheme lodges, including Singleton Lodge, Swansea.

Normally you must be 21 years of age to be a Freemason, but under the Universities Scheme you can join from the age of 18 if you are a student in higher education. Under 25s also benefit from reduced dues (membership fees) in order to make Freemasonry more accessible to younger men.

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Freemason through the Universities Scheme, please contact us for further information or visit the United Grand Lodge of England’s University Scheme website.
